Taekwon-Do World Champs receives boost - 2 Jul 2010

Failed ACL repairs: More common than you may think - 29 Jun 2010
In the US an estimated 400,000 people suffer an ACL injury each year, requiring primary reconstruction surgery to repair the injury. Unfortunately, 18,000 to 35,000 of those repairs will fail and require revisions, which are additional surgeries for reconstruction. (Medical News Today)

Are lefty pitchers more injury-prone? - 25 Jun 2010
There appear to be differences in the throwing motions of lefty and righty baseball pitchers that could impact their susceptibility to injury. In a study of college pitchers, researchers found that the mechanics of a lefty's motion resulted in more stress on the bone that runs from the shoulder to the elbow called the humerus. Australian Exercise, Recreation and Sport Survey (ERASS) 2009 - Jun 2010
The ERASS collects information on the frequency, duration, nature and type of physical activities that were participated in by persons aged 15 years and over for exercise, recreation or sport during the 12 months prior to interview. Participation means active 'playing' participation, and does not include coaching, refereeing and being a spectator, or activities related to work, household chores or gardening duties. In U.S., parents struggle to fit in exercise - 23 Jun 2010
Among Americans aged 18 to 50, those with children 18 years old or younger at home are less likely to report frequent exercise than are those with no child younger than 18 at home.
